Patuxent Wildlife Festival
Celebrate the Annual Patuxent Wildlife Festival on Saturday, Oct. 24.
Visitors may see live animals up-close, learn about cutting-edge wildlife research, participate in children’s activities, wander the woodlands, or explore forest, wetland and meadow habitats on an all-electric tram. You will also be able to climb aboard a bus for a behind-the-scenes tour of the normally closed research areas of the U.S. Geological Survey’s Patuxent Wildlife Research Center, and take a peek at the endangered whooping cranes being raised at Patuxent for release to the wild. To break up the day, families can visit the Crane Café where they may purchase snacks and light refreshments courtesy of the Friends of Patuxent.
Activities for all ages.
Hours: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Admission is FREE.
Location: Patuxent Research Refuge’s National Wildlife Visitor Center, Laurel, Md.
